Justice Should Not Have a Price Tag.
We believe that high-quality legal representation is a fundamental right, not a privilege reserved for the wealthy. Saffold Law dedicates a significant portion of our resources to serving those who cannot afford to pay, ensuring that no voice goes unheard in the legal system.
Our Commitment to the Community
As legal advocates, we have a special responsibility to the quality of justice. When the legal system fails the vulnerable, it fails everyone.
Quintin D. Saffold founded this firm on the principle of service. While we handle high-stakes corporate and entertainment matters, we never lose sight of our roots. Our Pro Bono program is designed to bridge the gap for individuals facing life-altering legal challenges—unlawful arrests, civil rights violations, or systemic injustice—who lack the financial means to fight back.
Our Focus Areas
Because our resources are limited, we focus our Pro Bono efforts where we can make the biggest impact.
1. Indigent Criminal Defense
We partner with local courts and defense programs to represent individuals charged with crimes who cannot afford private counsel. We provide the same aggressive, high-caliber defense for our pro bono clients as we do for our corporate clients.
2. Civil Rights Impact Litigation
We take on select cases that have the potential to change laws or police policies. If a case involves egregious police misconduct or systemic discrimination but the victim has no funds, we may represent them to ensure accountability.
3. Non-Profit Governance & Formation
We assist emerging charities and community organizations with their legal setup.
- Formation: Helping 501(c)(3) organizations incorporate.
- Counsel: Advising boards on governance so they can focus on their mission, not legal red tape.
4. Second Chance Expunction Clinics
We regularly host or participate in community legal clinics to help eligible citizens clear their criminal records (Expunctions) for free, removing barriers to employment and housing.
Eligibility & Selection Process
“Pro Bono” means free of charge for legal fees. However, we cannot accept every request. We select cases based on a strict review process.
Selection Criteria:
- Financial Need: Applicants must meet specific income guidelines (usually below a certain percentage of the federal poverty line).
- Case Merit: The case must have a viable legal defense or claim.
- Capacity: Acceptance depends on our current caseload availability.
What is NOT Covered:
- Generally, we do not accept pro bono cases for complex commercial litigation, divorce/custody disputes, or fee-generating personal injury cases (which are handled on contingency, not pro bono).
